At TforTeacher, we offer dyslexia assessments to empower pupils and their parents to understand their strengths and why they may be experiencing difficulties in their learning. Each assessment is carried out by a fully Certified Dyslexia Assessor.
A diagnostic assessment / dyslexia diagnostic test will tell you if your child is dyslexic or not. It will be carried out by our certified dyslexia assessor in person. After the assessment, you will receive a detailed report on your child’s cognitive profile which will highlight their individual style of learning by focusing on their reading, writing and spelling skills. The report will make recommendations on how your child can best be supported both at home and in school. The full diagnostic assessment may be used as evidence for exam access arrangements or to apply for funded support at University, known as Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).
The only way dyslexia can be formally diagnosed is through a full Diagnostic Assessment carried out by a certified dyslexia assessor. However, dyslexia screening tests can be a helpful, more affordable method, of assessing an individual’s strengths and weaknesses and identifying the likelihood of Specific Learning Difficulty (SpLD). These tests can be used to help identify which pupils would benefit from additional intervention and support with learning. Our Dyslexia Screening Assessments are completed by a Certified Dyslexia Assessor in person. If, after completing a dyslexia screening test, you decide that your child would benefit from a Diagnostic Assessment, T for Teacher will pledge £50.00 towards the cost of your diagnostic assessment fee.
Both the dyslexia diagnostic assessment and dyslexia screening test is completed by a Certified Dyslexia Assessor.
The only way dyslexia can be diagnosed is a through a full diagnostic assessment carried out by a certified assessor. This will tell you if your child is dyslexic or not.
The screening test is used to identify a child's strengths, weaknesses and determine the likelihood of a Specific Learning Difficulty such as dyslexia. As such, it is often used as a precursor to the Full Diagnostic Assessment. If, after completing a dyslexia screening test you decide that your child would benefit from a Diagnostic Assessment, TforTeacher will pledge £50 towards the cost of your screening assessment to be put towards our diagnostic assessment fee.
The length of time required to complete the dyslexia assessment depends on the child's learning style and ability and can therefore vary between students.
Dyslexia is a neurological difference that can have a significant impact during education, in the work place and in everyday life. As such, we are committed to providing the best possible support to families. Within 6 weeks of the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive report inclusive of recommendations of how your child can be supported both at home and at school. Your accessor will then invite you to book a follow up appoint to discuss the report and answer any questions you may have.
